Pinsent Masons and McGrigors announce merger plans

London firm Pinsent Masons and Scottish firm McGrigors have announced a formal agreement to merge. The combined firm will operate under the banner of Pinsent Masons and will employ more than 2,500 staff, including 1,500 lawyers, over 350 partners and a turnover of around £282 million. There are as yet no details on the management structure of the combined firm, or of who will lead the firm in the role of managing partner or chief executive. Richard Masters, managing partner of McGrigors, yesterday described the deal as “great news for clients of both firms”. He added: “We believe it will provide a solid platform for growth, allowing us to become a clear market-leader in strategically key sectors.”
