Bird & Bird promotes 12 to partnership

Bird & Bird has promoted 12 lawyers to the partnership this year, a dramatic increase on last year’s figures, when only two lawyers were made up. CEO David Kerr welcomed the return to 2009 promotion levels, saying the spread of partners across offices and sector groups showed Bird & Bird’s ‘strength of expertise’. In London promotions went to IT lawyer Ian Edwards, IP lawyer Jennifer Jones and Colin Kendon from the UK employee and incentives team. There were a number of promotions in Germany: In Hamburg IP lawyer Ulrike Gruebler and M&A specialist Oliver Koester got the nod, while IP lawyer Anna Wolters was promoted in Dusseldorf, and banking and finance lawyer Michael Juenemann was promoted in Frankfurt. Lars Huisman joined the partnership in The Hague, energy lawyer Marc Martens joined in Brussels, and the Helsinki office saw two promotions: commercial lawyer Jesper Nevalainen and dispute resolution expert Mikko Rajala to partner. And the last promotion went to Ivan Sagal, who heads Bird & Bird’s Prague and Bratislava offices and practises corporate, banking and finance law.
