Singapore set to license more foreign law firms
More foreign firms will be granted entry into the Singapore legal services market with a second round of licences to be granted in 2012. The first round of approvals for foreign firms was made in 2008, when six firms were granted regulatory approval: Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith, Latham & Watkins, Norton Rose, and White & Case. Law Minister K Shanmugam explained that foreign firms would be able to apply in the second half of 2012, and that the process would take about six months.
