Herbert Smith appoints former global corporate head as SE Asia MP

Herbert Smith has appointed Michael Walter, the firm’s former global corporate head, to the role of South East Asia managing partner. Walter will relocate from London to Singapore early next month to take over from incumbent Austin Sweeney, who will in turn relocate to the firm’s Hong Kong office. “We’ve seen a lot of growth opportunities and huge potential in South East Asia and will endeavour to build up our presence in the region,” said Walter, highlighting corporate, dispute resolution and corporate finance as the three key practice areas the firm is looking at.
