Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens lays off 6 in redundancy round
Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens has concluded a redundancy round, laying off two fee-earners and four secretaries in its Glasgow private client team. Chief executive Chris Smylie sought to hit a reassuring note: “There are definitively no more redundancies planned. We’ve no need to make more, we’re entering an expansion phase – that was the purpose of the strategic review. We’re continually positioning ourselves for growth in the market.” Smylie indicated that the firm would be boosting other practice areas, with some imminent senior appointments in the energy-focused Aberdeen office.
