Freshfields strengthens corporate team in China

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced the appointment of Calvin Lai and Antony Dapiran as partners in the firm’s corporate practice group. They will be based in Hong Kong and Beijing respectively. Calvin specialises in US securities transactions and M&A work and joins from Sullivan & Cromwell while Antony, whose main areas of expertise include securities, private equity and onshore and offshore M&A, is one of a group of 25 new worldwide internal partner appointments. Teresa Ko, China managing partner, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, said: ‘We are very excited to welcome Calvin and Antony to the partnership. I believe that, on the securities side, we currently offer the most successful “one-stop” Hong Kong and US securities team in the region.
