Wragge & Co offers trainees £5k to defer, but none accept

Wragge & Co has attempted to head off a staffing problem by offering trainees £5,000 to defer the start of their contracts from September 2012 until 2013. Unfortunately for the firm, not one of the prospective trainees has accepted the offer. Managing Partner Ian Metcalfe indicated that the offer "entirely voluntary". He explained the offer by pointing out that the firm increased its turnover by 5% last year, but still faced a tough job hitting targets in a difficult economy.
