Herbert Smith and Freehills appoint global executive ahead of merger
Herbert Smith and Australian merger partner Freehills have released the details of a new 13 member global executive to manage the combined firm after the merger on 1 October 2012. Herbert Smith managing partner David Willis and Freehills managing partner Gavin Bell will become joint chief executives, and will lead the management team. They will be joined by EMEA managing partner Allen Hanen, Asia managing partner Mark Johnson, UK managing partner Ian Cox, and Australia managing partner Jason Ricketts. The executive also includes four global practice heads: Sonya Leydecker as head of disputes, Mike Ferraro and Patrick Mitchell as joint corporate heads and Patrick St John, who heads the combined finance, real estate and projects practice. Freehills' Sydney-based managing partner becomes industries and clients managing partner, sitting on the executive alongside joint chief operating officers Janet Young and David Robinson.
