Brexit prompts pay freezes at Addleshaws and Gowling WLG

Following Britain’s vote to leave the EU, Addleshaw Goddard and Gowling WLG announced plans to freeze salary reviews, originally slated for August, until autumn. Addleshaws will pay out its staff bonuses on time in September, but will postpone review of salaried partners’ fixed profit share, as well as its next profit distribution for equity partners. Likewise, Gowling WLG will pay out bonuses as planned in July, although the firm will delay its salary review. Several firms have announced similar plans amid this year’s uncertainty surrounding the Brexit vote, with impacts on headcount, remuneration, and organizational structure.
