Goodwin Procter hires 26 from KWM as litigation is dropped
US firm Goodwin Procter has hired 26 partners from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), which has recently dropped litigation against the firm and its previous corporate partner Richard Lever. KWM initially pursued litigation against Goodwin Procter following Lever’s decision to leave the firm for Goodwin in April 2015, followed by a Paris-based KWM team who joined Lever at Goodwin. The KWM partners involved in the exit included Michael Halford, Christophe Digoy, Maxence Bloch, Laura Charkin, Shawn D'Aguiar, Patrick Deasy, Ed Hall, and Ajay Pathak. KWM filed a new notice of intention to appoint administrators earlier this week, as the firm’s remaining partners seek new positions.
