KWM administrators blame firm’s accelerated demise on exiting partners
King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) joint administrators have announced that the firm’s rapid demise came in part from a wave of partner departures in 2016. According to an interim report to creditors, Andrew Hosking of Quantuma said the firm was unable to come to an agreement with partners on funding options and next steps for the firm in early 2016. The firm’s decision to go into administration later in the year led to further partner and staff exits. Although the firm engaged in negotiations for rescue deals throughout the year, it could not garner sufficient partner support to move forward.
