Clifford Chance spring qualifier retention rate slides to 67 per cent

Clifford Chance has posted its lowest retention rate in more than seven years. The firm had a cohort of 46 trainees, of which 33 received offers out of 43 who applied. Of those who received offers, 31 accepted positions with the firm. As of September 2018, Clifford Chance will be reducing its trainee numbers by 20 per cent, and will be recruiting up to 80 trainees per year from that point forward. Other firms that have reported their spring retention numbers include White & Case, Slaughter and May, Mayer Brown and Trowers & Hamlins.
