Gender gap at London's elite law firms

Women make up an average of just over 14 per cent of the partnership at the UK's four largest "Magic Circle'' firms - Clifford Chance, Linklaters, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Allen & Overy. Senior lawyers said boosting the number of women partners had proved difficult in a profession notorious for its long hours and hard-driving, even "macho" culture.
