Freshfields and Hogan take lead roles on $1.8 billion Volvo deal

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Hogan & Hartson are guiding Ford's sale of the Volvo brand to the Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding for $1.8 billion. The Freshfields team, which is advising Zhejiang Geely Holding, is led by partner Chris Bown in London. Hogan & Hartson advise Ford on the sale. Hogan also advised Ford on the June 2008 deal to sell the Jaguar and Land Rover brands to India's Tata Motors for $2.3 billion. The Hogan & Hartson team is led by partner William Curtin. Zhejiang Geely Holding will pay less than a third of the $6.5 billion Ford paid for the Volvo brand in 1999.
