Top UK firms improve trainee retention rates

Trainee retention rates at the 30 largest firms in the UK are up 10 per cent on last year’s figures, 84% of qualifying trainees were offered jobs this year and 83 per cent of the group accepted offers. This can be compared last year’s retention rate of just 75 per cent. Some firms have retention rates that are significantly unde the average, such as Hogan Lovells, which is set to post a retention rate of 57 per cent, while CMS Cameron McKenna, SJ Berwin and Wragge & Co have posted retention rates of 61 per cent, 67 per cent and 71 per cent respectively. Several firms are still to finalise acceptance rates, but Berwin Leighton Paisner and Stephenson Harwood deserve plaudits for keeping 100% of their trainees, with Ashurst coming in just behind with a retention rate of 95 per cent.
