Howrey partners vote to dissolve firm
Howrey’s partners have voted to dissolve the partnership, a decision that will take effect on 15 March 2011 and put the 55 year old firm out of its misery. The firm’s chairman and CEO, Robert Ruyak, said: “This is a very difficult time for our firm, for our attorneys and for our staff. Many of us have spent our entire legal careers at Howrey and remain proud of what we built. We find some solace in the fact that our people have been so well received by their new firms. They are first class professionals and deserve the respect accorded to leaders in their fields.” Meanwhile, Winston & Strawn, which has made employment offers to a number of Howrey partners, rescinded all offers made to partners in Washington DC. Winston & Strawn will go ahead with plans to hire Howrey partners from the Houston office Condolences to all lawyers and staff who will lose their jobs as a result of the dissolution, and best of luck for the future.
