Akin Gump and Vinson lead $1.55 billion Texas shale sale

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Vinson & Elkins have taken leading roles on the deal for the $1.55 billion sale of shale assets by Andarko Petroleum to a subsidiary of the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC). Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld is advising Andarko on the deal with a team led by energy and global transactions practice head James Rice III and including associate Eric Muñoz. Andarko is also advised by an in house team led by senior counsel Randle Jones, who will work alongside the company’s general counsel Robert Reeves. Vinson & Elkins are advising KNOC with a team made up of energy M&A partner Marcia Backus, finance partner Douglas Bland, tax partner Thomas Crichton IV, and associates Elizabeth Radack, Charles Ofner, Paul Seifert, Danielle Mangrum, and P. Todd Way.
