Top 20 London firms show poor record on female partnership
RollOnFriday has conducted a survey on the top 20 London firms, asking, how many women entered the partnership in the last three years – taking into account both lateral hires and promotions. While some firms have yet to announce the results of this year’s promotions round, the preliminary results show Ashurst at the very bottom of the scale, with just two women entering its partnership over the last three years. These two represent 6% of the 33 partners made up in total. Herbert Smith leads the pack, with 13 women among the 31 new partners - a rate of 42%. At Allen & Overy and Linklaters female partners account for 22% of all new partners (13/59 and 14/64 respectively). At Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer women made up 14% of new partners (9/66), while at Slaughter and May the figure was 11%, or one out of nine new partners.
