Freshfields makes friends with White & Case

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer finance partners Maurice Allen and Mike Goetz are setting up an informal conflicts referral relationship in London with their previous firm White & Case. The pair anticipate that Freshfields' strong position in borrower financing work will create more opportunities for referrals over and above conflicts. As borrowers' counsel, Freshfields has previously referred some business to Clifford Chance. Allen and Goetz were elected to the magic circle firm's partnership two weeks ago following strategic differences with White & Case's management in New York and their subsequent exit.
