Ince & Co takes first prize for work-life-balance in the UK

A Roll On Friday survey on work-life balance at UK law firms has put smaller firms at the top of the ranking, with Ince & Co taking the number one spot. One member of staff claimed "partners actually do respect that you have a life outside the office" (and added "hurrah!"). Second place was shared by Shoosmiths and Bird & Bird. Shoosmiths won praise for a "relaxed approach to targets", and Bird & Bird was commended for a sensible billable hours target, and having a "healthy approach" to work-life balance. Among the larger firms, Reynolds Porter Chamberlain and Norton Rose did well, taking eighth and ninth places respectively. Of the magic circle firms Linklaters made the poorest showing, scoring just 45%. And last place went to Macfarlanes, which scored just 44% for its relentlessly long hours.
