Sidley Austin appoints new co-chair of executive committee

Sidley Austin has appointed Carter G. Phillips as the Co-Chair of the Firm’s Executive Committee - the group that exercises general authority over its policies and affairs. Phillips will share the role for a one-year transitional period with the current Chair, Thomas A. Cole, who will hand over leadership in 2013 to focus on advising clients on M&A and corporate governance matters. Philips is an experienced appellate lawyer who has led Sidley Austin’s Washington DC office for 17 years. He intends to remain in DC and to maintain an active practice during his tenure as the Chair of the Executive Committee.
