Linklaters negotiates alliance with South African firm

August 15, 2012 Linklaters is in advanced negotiations with South African law firm Webber Wentzel about an exclusive alliance along the same lines as the one recently concluded between Linklaters and Australia's Allens Arthur Robinson: a formal referral agreement and one or more joint ventures.

One potential joint venture would see Linklaters and Webber Wentzel share the costs associated with new office openings across the African continent, with both firms interested in Nigeria and several other locations across West Africa.

The partnerships of both firms are expected to ratify the deal through a vote later this year.
