Manches loses high profile family lawyer to Stewart Law

Manches has lost high profile divorce lawyer Helen Ward, along with four associates and three support staff, to rival firm Stewarts Law. Family and private client work brings in 39% of Manches' revenue and is its profitable practice, so the firm will be feeling the loss of Ward after her 18 years of service. RollOnFriday points out that the departure follows a troubled period at Manches, which managed to lose six department heads between 2006 and 2009, with turnover dropping each year to for five years to reach £30.6 million in 2011. In July of this year the CEO who had been hired to stabilise the firm, Judit Petho, quit after just 18 months. Her predecessor Alexandrina Le Clezio lasted only six months in the job. In addition, the firm took a £7m overdraft in 2010, conducted a round of redundancies in 2011, and saw the prosecution of a real estate associate for fraud to the value of £60k.
