Webb Henderson to Launch in London
International boutique law firm Webb Henderson is set to launch an office in London with the hire of Gordon Moir, the former general counsel of British Telecom (BT) Retail and head of antitrust and regulatory law at BT group. Moir will head the London office, offering specialized expertise in telecommunications, media and technology, and anti-trust and regulatory matters. From London, Moir will also work to attract new clients to the firm, which has bases in Sydney, Auckland and Sinagpore. Looking to the future, Webb Henderson is keen to pursue work in emerging markets such the Gulf and India. Founding partner Angus Henderson said: “There is a lot more work in India, both on the regulatory side and infrastructure side, but the Indian legal market is a closed market.” The Gulf region is becoming more active as the market undergoes major liberalisation. “Most of the markets are duopolies, and they are now beginning to open up to new operators through new licences,” said Henderson. “Over time, we hope to apply our strategy to that region as well as elsewhere.”
