Linklaters takes the axe to partnership
Linklaters is taking the axe to its partnership, with around 35 partners expected to be pushed out. Insiders report that there is an effort on the part of the firm to obscure the process by restructuring practice groups and moving partners around, but that some big names have been eliminated from the partnership, with at least one of the firm's star Corporate partners being de-equitised. All of this is taking place as the firm struggles to appoint its leader, with Managing Partner Simon Davies standing uncontested for re-election but as yet unable to secure appointment because of the high number "no" votes and abstensions in the electronic vote. The firm has now called a physical meeting in order to resolve the leadership issue, there are concerns as to whether the firm will be able to muster a quorum from its international partnership.
