Merger talks called off between KWM and Morgan Lewis
King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) and US firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius have called off discussions of a potential merger between the two firms. Had the combination been successful, the deal would have created the second largest firm in the world by turnover, with a combined revenue of approximately $2.86bn. KWM’s European troubles are thought to have contributed to the dissolution of merger talks, as the firm's European region seeks to solidify a bailout deal from its Australian and Chinese divisions. Morgan Lewis has also considered the possibility of a combination with CMS Cameron McKenna.
