Dewey & LeBoeuf, O’Melveny, Shearman cut 400 more jobs
Dewey & LeBoeuf and O’Melveny & Myers announced that they will lay off about 330 lawyers and staff blaming weak demand for legal work because of the economic crisis. New York-based Dewey & LeBoeuf plans to cut about 100 staff in the U.S. The firm also launched a redundancy consultation in its London office affecting about 30 legal and support staff. Los Angeles-based O’Melveny will cut 90 associates and 110 staff in its corporate practice. Shearman & Sterling will cut 60 staff in the U.S. and plans to cut 18 staff positions in London.
