US firms scoop up KWM partners in Europe

A number of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) partners have been hired by US firms in Europe during a wave of exits following KWM’s European woes. Among the US firms hiring KWM partners are Covington & Burling, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, and K&L Gates. K&L Gates has hired Munich-based KWM corporate partner Franz Schaefer, as well as counsel Martina Ortner and associate Christoph Kuster. Orrick has hired Christoph Brenner of KWM’s Munich office. Covington & Burling will take on Craig Pollack, head of litigation at KWM, along with partner Louise Freeman and a number of associates.
